#43 Mystic Vision of France- the Eldest Daughter of the Church has become Haughty, Faithless and Disobedient

(September 18, 1877)

The Immaculate Mother comes close to France and tells her she is guilty on three occasions.

“France, give Me your heart.”

She remains silent.

“Do you remember, ungrateful France, covered in hideous wounds, do you remember that you
had promised to give your heart to my Divine Son?”

France remains silent, looking up proudly to Mary.  Everything about her exudes pride.

“O France, guilty and treacherous, are not you content to have made so many victims? The blood shed by your fault sank into streams. If you only knew what chastisements My Son has in store for you again, how eagerly you would come back to Him.”

France does not say anything, but slowly uncovers her heart.

“My Son,” cried Mary, “her heart is black! It is a source of vice, iniquity and unbelief!”

France: “It is I.”

(France:) “I will follow you Mary, on condition that my companions follow me.”

“No. France, you will follow me on your own.”

France refuses. Our Lady reminds her of its beautiful past, the lily of St. Louis. In vain ... She (Our Lady) recounts the courage of Louis XVI ... Nothing touches France. The good Mother has under her coat, a chain that she passes around and under the arms, the chest of France.

“Follow me,” She says (Our Lady), “follow me now. Woe to you if you resist, you will perish entirely.”

France, forced against her heart to walk, is conducted as a criminal before her Judge. From time to time, Saint Michael presents his banner of the Sacred Heart, but she refuses.

“Leave us,” says France, “it is too long to walk. I can not go any more.”

“France, you will go, when your feet are bleeding! They have walked in ingratitude. You are corrupt from head to toe. Heaven is your only hope.”

“I wait and I still have hope on the earth.”

“What is your hope on the earth?”

“Mary, in France, there is still faith.”

“Who has kept it? It is not you.”

“I have spread the faith in the world.”

“How did you spread it? If you could go up to my Son, you would mount to extinguish His illuminations.”

(i.e., in other words, Our Lady says to France the Faith is Heaven's gift, it is not for France to claim. She (France) would not have been able to spread the faith throughout the world were it not for Heaven's graces. At her current state, France is so full of pride, that she would not ascend to Our Lord's throne to pay Him homage, but to attempt to take His place similar to Satan.)

France is reluctant.

France falls powerless before Jesus. Mary supports her and presents her as the eldest daughter of the Church. Jesus receives her as someone miserable.

“I will not recognize her,” He said “as the eldest daughter of My Church until she has emptied her heart of its iniquities.”

France is dressed in only a few rags.

“Why, O France,” He repeats to her, “did you allow yourself be lead to infidelity? Why are you ashamed to call Heaven to help thee? You knew that you violated My laws.”

“Men deceived me.”

“Why did you let them abuse you?”

“They blindfolded me; I followed them.”

“Why, oh guilty France, hast thou despised (My) saint, why did you rebel against her?” (Our Lord may be referring to St. Margaret Mary and her message of devotion to the Sacred Heart.)

“Lord, I was not concerned about religion. I set You aside.”

“How could you not fear My chastisements?”

“My intelligence has vanished. I do not have any more. I do not have any more."

“You have all My intelligence; but you used it in the service of evil."

France, lowers her eyes. The Lord places her in a tomb, on a heap of thorns.
