#8 St. Aloysius Gonzaga - Marie-Julie Jahenny

Ecstasy dated July 3, 1874.

During her Way of the Cross, Marie-Julie was heard whispering to several saints, including St. Aloysius Gonzaga. Her confessor asked her later, she told him her revelation:

“Three days before his death”, she said, “the young Saint was bareheaded. Then to his agony, they wanted him to take back his cap, he refused because he wanted to honour the death agony of
our Lord.”

*****

Notes: Marie-Julie would experience the Passion of Christ during which she was visited by many saints.  On occasion, they would tell her details about their lives not known or almost forgotten, a little sign to show that these visions were authentic. To their surprise, the 'Friends of Marie-Julie Association', which is the custodian of the original texts, discovered a rare disclosure in the "Acta Sanctorum" by the Bollandists confirming the information that Marie-Julie received: Aloysius Gonzaga (1568-1591) wanted to die bare-headed in honour of Our Lord's death-agony and refused to allow his head to be covered in the presence of the crucifix.
