#21 Mystic Recognition of Saints Relics

Witness testimony dated January 29, 1875.
The witness describes how he tested Marie-Julie's spiritual gifts of recognising holy relics without being told about their presence or history.
In this instance, he had with him relics of St. Francis de Sales, St. Jane de Chantal, and St. Margaret Mary given to him by a religious that didn't want his name known. The witness did not tell Marie-Julie anything about these relics, but she recognised them immediately. She also added a detail: that Saint Chantal saw Our Lord in 'sweet visions'. Here is the eyewitness account:

Last Wednesday, a religious gave me a precious relic for Marie-Julie. He did not want his name to be known. I came to La Fraudais, the ecstasy had begun, consequently Marie-Julie did not know I was there. I could not talk to her. She knew neither the donor nor the reliquary. She took the True Cross, prayed to the Holy Spirit, took the reliquary and carried it to her mouth (i.e kissed it) and said:

"Thank you my dear Spouse, (i.e. Our Lord) for introducing me to the three relics of St. Francis de Sales, St. Chantal and my little sister Margaret Mary. Thank you for the good Father, for the good
Brother that made known to me this devotion. St. Francis de Sales founder of love, he so simple, so innocent, you did love, my dear Spouse and you, Saint Chantal, all you, spouses crucified in love, pray for the good Brother. Thank you for introducing me to these relics. St. Francis de Sales, you burn with love, you have (or, are) with Jesus Christ of Heaven, you love poverty and humility, you are so sweet, gentle as a lamb, you are so innocent, who had a serene face, pray for the good Brother, for my Father confessor who brought me these relics. Great St. Francis de Sales, you directed St. Frances de Chantal in her enterprises. Her heart was not an enclosed garden, she had no secrets from you and you, Saint Francis de Sales, you had nothing to hide from her, here below, in Heaven, you are more intimate. Grand St. Francis de Sales, you had a great love and wisdom to love and worship Jesus Christ with all your communities. You who are visiting, you said that wisdom was the most beautiful flower with humility. Saint Chantal, in your last hour, you (communicated?) with all the daughters of the Community. You placed in their hearts the love of Jesus crucified. Jesus came down to visit you in sweet visions, Saint Chantal followed all your advice. She lived in the house of my little sister (St.) Margaret when she died, where you have germinated the love of the Sacred Heart, all three in the same community. Thank you, precious relics. You will bless us, you (whose face?) is so good and full of goodness. - Thank you my dear Spouse for introducing me to such a great Saint and Saint Chantal who I did not know.  Give me a great devotion to the Saints, to me who is so an unworthy and wretched creature.

Observations: the witness who wrote this account may be Fr. David as Marie-Julie asked St. Francis de Sales to ' pray ... for my Father confessor who brought me these relics.' She also recognised that a 'Brother' was connected with bringing these relics to her, so she mystically knew that a religious gave them to him.

She receives spiritual advice from 'you who are visiting': (Saint Francis de Sales?) that wisdom is a beautiful flower when combined with the virture of humility. She also reveals that it was Saint Jane de Chantal that 'germinated the love of the Sacred Heart' in her holy community, thereby indicating she helped to prepare the community at Paray le Monial for the great grace to be given to St. Margaret Mary concerning the appearance of the Sacred Heart. She also revealed it is Our Lord who revealed the histories of these saints to her as well.
